Alex supports Jool’s Law
It was a privilege to speak in yesterday’s Westminster Hall debate on giving parents access to their children’s social media accounts. The debate was brought forward as a result of a petition started by Ellen from Cheltenham, whose son Jools tragically died in 2022. She believes that he might have been taking part in an online challenge and that access to his social media accounts could provide crucial evidence of this.
1,711 of my constituents signed the petition, so it was essential for me to be there. As a parent myself, I can only imagine the unbearable heartache of losing a child in this way, and the feeling of helplessness that currently follows when parents are unable to get answers.
